Abstract:
Provided is a speed-decreasing or speed-increasing device capable of reducing the axial direction force component (that is, the lost force) of the contact force at the point at which a tooth of a first face gear engages with a tooth space of a second face gear (that is, the contact point) and relatively increasing the circumferential direction force component (that is, the driving force), thereby improving torque transmission efficiency. This speed-decreasing or speed-increasing device is provided with a first face gear (1), a second face gear (2) that faces the first face gear (1), and a cam part (3) for inclining the first face gear (1) with respect to the second face gear (2) so that the first face gear (1) engages with the second face gear (2) and for causing the first face gear (1) to precess so that the site of engagement moves. The device is configured so that the bottom (19) of a tooth space (2b) of the second face gear (2) that engages with a tooth (1a) of the first face gear (1) does not contact the tooth (1a) of the first face gear (1).
