Abstract:
In order to detect the speed of movement or rotation of a moving body accurately and without contact, this speed detection device 1 is provided with: a rotating body which is arranged spaced apart from a primary surface of the moving body 8, which is a rotating or moving conductor, and which has a permanent magnet which is rotated about a prescribed rotation axis by the Lorentz force generated depending on the rotation or movement direction of the moving body; a motor 3 which exerts a rotational drive force on the rotating body; a rotation control unit 4 which controls the rotational drive force exerted by the motor on the rotating body and variably controls the rotational speed of the rotating body; a current detection unit 5 which detects the current value flowing through the motor when the rotating body, subjected to the rotational drive force from the Lorentz force, is rotated at an arbitrary rotational speed; and a movement speed estimation unit 6 which estimates the movement or rotation speed of the moving body on the basis of the current value detected by the current detection unit.
