Abstract:
Light storing phosphor powder that exhibits high luminescence intensity and prolonged light emitting time and that when added to a synthetic resin, etc., exhibits excellent workability. In particular, spherical light storing phosphor powder comprising light storing phosphor powder comprising an alkaline earth metal aluminate as a main component and a transition metal element, such as a lanthanide metal element, as an activator characterized in that the powder is spherical. There is further provided a process for producing spherical light storing phosphor powder, comprising passing pre-synthesized light storing phosphor powder or light storing phosphor precursor powder, this precursor powder obtained by preliminary reaction of synthetic raw materials of light storing phosphor, as a raw material through a zone heated at a temperature of not lower than the melting point of light storing phosphor so as to render the raw material powder spherical.
