Abstract:
An improved spherical rotary valve (10) for a spherical rotary valve assembly for internal combustion engine, the improved rotary intake valve (10) having a drum body (10) of spherical section defined by two parallel planes (14, 16) of a sphere (12) disposed symmetrically about the center of said sphere thereby defining a spherical periphery (12) and planar side walls (14, 16), the rotary intake valve (10) being formed with a shaft receiving aperture (26) centrally, axially positioned there through, the drum body (10) formed with doughnut-shaped cavities (18, 20) in each of the side walls (14, 16) thereof, about the shaft receiving aperture (16), the doughnut-shaped cavities (18, 20) segregated by a partition wall (22), the doughnut-shaped cavities (18, 20) in communication with a passageway (30) formed in the spherical periphery (12) of the drum body (10), the partition wall (22) bisecting the passageway formed in the spherical periphery (12) of the drum body (10), the bisecting portion of the partition wall (22) having an upper surface (31), the upper surface (31) being an arcuate surface complimentary with the spherical periphery (12) of the drum body (10).
