Abstract:
A spherical-zone shaped sealing element (55) which is provided at the center thereof with a cylindrical inner surface (52) defining a through hole (51), is formed at the outer surface (53) thereof into a partial convex sphere, and is provided with an annular end face (54) on the larger diameter side of this outer surface (53), wherein the inside of a portion extending from the cylindrical inner surface (52) to the outer surface (53) of the partial convex sphere is provided with a reinforcing material (6) consisting of a compressed wire netting (5) and with a heat resisting material filling the meshes of the wire netting (5) of the reinforcing material (6), mixed integrally with the reinforcing material (6) and compressed, and containing expanded graphite, phosphorous pentoxide and phosphate, and the outer surface (53) of the partial convex sphere is formed into a smooth surface from which the outer layer of the heat resisting material containing expanded graphite, phosphorous pentoxide and phosphate and the reinforcing material (6) integrally mixed with the outer layer and consisting of the wire netting (5) are exposed.
