Abstract:

Remedies for the chapped skin of a patient with sensitive skin are provided by incorporating sphingosinoids having basic structures represented by the general formula (3) or (4) in external preparations for skin: (3) [wherein R₁ is amino or the like; R₂ is hydrogen or hydroxylated alkyl having one to four carbon atoms; R₃ and R₄ are each independently hydrogen or hydroxyl, or R₃ and R₄ together represent oxygen; and R₅ is alkyl having one to eight carbon atoms or the like], and (4) [wherein R₁, R₃, R₄, and R₅ are each as defined above].
