Abstract:
The invention relates to a spinal fixation device that comprises an elongated splint core element (14a) having a longitudinal centre line (30). The splint core element includes a first elongated member (15) made of a permanently deformable corrugated metal sheet with its corrugations being transversal to the longitudinal centre line (30) of the splint core element (14a), and at least one second elongated member (16) made of a permanently deformable corrugated metal sheet with its corrugations extending in parallel to the longitudinal centre line (30) of the splint core element (14a) and secured to the first elongated member (15), wherein each one of said at least one second elongated member (16) is arranged on the first elongated member (15) in a central alignment with said longitudinal centre line (30). The device further comprises a covering layer (17) on both faces of the splint core element (14a), said covering layer being formed so that its inner surface facing towards the splint core element (14a) at least partially fills in the exposed corrugation troughs of the corrugated first and second elongated members (15, 16), and an adhesive layer (18) on the covering layer (17) on one side of the splint core element (14a).
