Abstract:
A spiral tap (10) in which the external thread at a chamfer (16b) has such a profile as the outer circumferential side portion of a thread having the same dimension as that of a complete thread (16a) is cut linearly on the cross-section including the central axis (O), and the inclination angle θ against that line, i.e. the central axis (O) of the outer circumferential surface (26), is within the range of -15°≤θ≤30'. Since the curling state of chips is stabilized, the chips are discharged well from the spiral flute (20) to the outside and durability is enhanced because chipping of the cutting tooth caused by biting of chips is constrained.
