Abstract:
In order to prevent damage to optical fibers when splitting a cable, this splitting tool has a first lever and a second lever which can be opened and closed, the first lever and the second lever each having a groove-shaped recess, a pair of cutting blades projecting from the recess, and a pair of guides projecting from the recess. Therein, the first lever and the second lever are closed to sandwich a cable between the recess of the first lever and the recess of the second lever, the pair of guides are fitted to a pair of notches in the cable, and then the sheath of the cable is split by the pair of cutting blades. The distance between the pair of cutting blades in the width direction of the recess is greater than the distance between the pair of guides in the width direction.
