Abstract:
Provided is a splitting unit that can generate a three-dimensional image with little left-right difference. The splitting unit is provided with a beam splitter that transmits first imaging light, which is a portion of light incident to a surface of incidence, and reflects second imaging light, which is another portion of the light incident to the surface of incidence, and a reflective member that reflects the second imaging light after reflection by the beam splitter. Either the reflectivity of the reflective member and/or the spectral characteristics of the beam splitter is set on the basis of the following mathematical expressions.
T = d/(1 + d)
R = 1 - T
Here, T is the transmittance (0 ≤ T ≤ 1) of the beam splitter, R the reflectivity (0 ≤ R ≤ 1) of the beam splitter, and d the reflectivity (0 ≤ d ≤ 1) of the reflective member.
