The present invention provides a spontaneous orientation aid for a liquid crystal composition, said spontaneous orientation aid comprising one or more compounds each having a partial structure represented by general formula (i) (wherein Zi1 represents a single bond or the like; Ai1 represents a bivalent 6-membered aromatic group or the like; mi1 represents an integer of 1 to 5; and Ki1 represents a structure represented by any one of formulae (K-1) to formula (K-8) (wherein WK1 represents a methine group or the like; XK1 and YK1 independently represent -CH2- or the like; ZK1 represents an oxygen atom or the like; and UK1, VK1 and SK1 independently represent a methine group or the like)).
