Abstract:
A sports training apparatus intended for soccer training comprises a pitch area (12) bounded by side walls (22) and end walls (14) having goal structures (16) set there against. Reflective optical sensors (20) in vertical columns detect passage of a ball between columns and hence allow calculation of ball speed. Video cameras (24, 26) are provided around the pitch area ad allow recordings to be made and shown. One or more pressure mats (30) and goal area rear mats (19) and sub mats allow detection of player presence and position of ball impact. One or other of satellite positioning or video image analysis is used to keep track of the positions of individual players and video analysis is used to keep track of the ball. Displayable animations are made to showing player and ball positions. A processor (42) and display (38, 34) are used to control and recall training sessions.
