Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a spray ionization device comprising: a first pipe body 21 that has a first flow path 24 which allows a liquid Lf to flow therethrough, and has, at one end thereof, a first outlet 21a through which the liquid is sprayed out; a second pipe body 22 that surrounds the first pipe body; and a third pipe body 23 that surrounds the second pipe body with a space interposed therebetween, that has a second flow path 25 allowing a gas to flow therethrough, and that has a second outlet 23a at the one end. The second flow path is delimited and formed by an outer circumferential surface 22c of the second pipe body and an inner circumferential surface 23b of the third pipe body. The second outlet of the third pipe body is disposed at the same positon or downstream of the position of the first outlet in an axial direction. The second outlet is formed to have an opening diameter D2 smaller than the diameter of the outer circumferential surface of the second pipe body. At least the leading end part of the third pipe body including the second outlet is made of an electrically conductive material so as to serve as an electrode. Charged droplets can be sprayed from the second outlet by applying an electric field to droplets sprayed from the first outlet using a power supply 14 connected to the electrode.
