Abstract:
Heat treatment is performed so that an oxide film formed thereby in a spring receiving flange part may not be readily detached, and the abrasion resistance of the surface of the spring receiving flange part which makes contact with a valve spring can therefore be largely improved. At least part of the oxide film (15) formed by the heat treatment on the surface of the portion of the spring receiving flange part (3) with which the upper end of the valve spring (7) makes contact is removed, and the thickness of the oxide film is consequently made to be 0.00 to 0.02 μm.
