Description:
Stabilizing Member of an Earphone Assembly Technical Field The present invention relates to a stabilizing member of an earphone assembly which is situated on the ear towards the auditory canal mouth.

Description of the Prior Art Earphone assemblies consisting of an electroacoustic transducer situated in a body with a connection cord are formed so as to enable the insertion of their upper rounded part between the tragus and the antitragus of the outer part of the ear. As this insertion does not ensure the necessary stability, various design modifications are made for an additional fixing of the earphone assembly to various retaining surfaces of the outer part of the ear.

The contemporary prior art, as described in DE 4019530, is the design modification of a body arranged for an additional fixing of the earphone assembly by means of a curved arm. This arm is hung into a cavity on the junction of an auricle with the head.

Although this solution prevents from the earphone dropping out of the ear, it does not properly ensure the attachment to an auditory canal. This results in a frequent manual insertion of the earphone into a defined ear area.

Known is also the design modification described in EP 0637896, wherein the earphone assembly is fitted out with, in essence circular configuration of a movable member which is pivotable with respect to the outer casing of a body and enables better fitting of the earphone reclining against the auricle helix. The disadvantage of this modification is an exacting construction with movable members increasing the costs of a production and the frequency of repairs thereof as well.

An another known solution of the earphone assembly using the retaining surface of a concha for better fixing, is described in the US patent 5,712, 453. A removable stabilizer consisting of a receiver attachment, further of a resilient and flexible support member and also of an ear concha pad is situated on the receiver body in this case.

The disadvantage of such a solution is a frequent mechanical separation-slipping off of the receiver attachment from the body during the insertion in the ear but above all during the removal therefrom, causing a quick wear thereof resulting in frequent replacement of the whole adapter.

Background of the Invention The drawbacks mentioned above are to a large extent removed by a stabilizing member of an earphone assembly for fixing to a superior concha of the ear according to this invention, the subject-matter of which consists in that the stabilizing member is formed by an arc-curved plate, extending upwards, with rounded edges. The upper part of the plate copies the internal shape of the superior concha of the ear. The lower part of the plate is firmly attached to the body or forms a homogenous part thereof.

The plate is in its upper part advantageously fitted out with a pad made from a resilient cellular material.

Brief Description of the Drawings The invention is explained more in detail in the enclosed drawing, wherein Fig. 1 shows the side view of an earphone assembly wherein the stabilizing member plate is formed as a projection forming a part of the body Fig. 2 shows the rear view of an earphone assembly wherein the stabilizing member plate is made as an independent glued section, the upper part of which is fitted out with a pad Fig. 3 shows the view of an earphone assembly with a stabilizing member arranged in the ear

Description of the Preferred Embodiment Example 1 A plate 4 (Fig. 1) of an arc-curved form with rounded edges, extending upwards.

This plate 4 is made out as a part of a pressed piece of a body 1 of an earphone assembly. The shape of the upper plate 4 is formed so as to copy the internal shape of a superior concha 54 of the ear 5.

The body 1 of the earphone assembly in which an electroacoustic transducer 2 with a connection cord 3 is situated, is held in the hand and inserted from the side of an electroacoustic transducer 2 between the tragus 52 and the antitragus 53 of the outer ear 5 part. The upper part of the plate 4 with the shaped surface thereof is accordingly inserted under the superior concha 54 till an excellent fixing of the assembly is reached without any reclining against the auricle 51.

Example 2 This example is identical to the example 1 with the exception that the plate 4 is made out as an independent section which is firmly glued to the body 1. The upper part of the plate 4 is fitted out with a pad 42 made from a resilient cellular material.

This pad 42 is attached to the central wedge 41 by means of glueing.
