Abstract:
Disclosed is a stacker crane (6) which, without an increased footprint, is capable of loading and unloading goods safely in an emergency; also disclosed is a method of loading and unloading goods using said stacker crane (6). The stacker crane (6) is provided on a platform car (20) which travels along a shelf (4, 5), a mast (24) provided on the platform car (20), and a normal-use elevator platform (22) which ascends and descends along the mast (24) and is provided with a normal-use transfer device (26). The stacker crane (6) is further provided with an emergency-use rail member (32, 33) provided in the vertical direction along the mast (24), and an emergency-use elevator platform (36) which, freely attachable to and detachable from the emergency-use rail member (32, 33), can freely ascend and descend along the emergency-use rail member (32, 33), and which is provided with an emergency-use transfer device (36).
