Abstract:
Provided is a staple removal device suitable for the reuse of a bundle of paper after staples are removed therefrom. Said staple removal device is provided with a detection section which detects the positions of the staples binding the bundle of paper; a striking section which strikes the staples; and a removal section which removes the staples from the bundle of paper. This staple removal device is characterized in that the striking section strikes the staples, causes the staples to undergo compressive deformation in such a way as to crush the staples, and perforates the bundle of paper by means of the compression-deformed staples, and that the removal section uses one or more rollers, and bends the bundle of paper by means of the rollers, thereby causing the staples to protrude from the surface of the bundle of paper and thus removing the staples from the bundle of paper.
