Abstract:
In order to reduce as much as possible the use of the starter of a compression ignition internal combustion engine in the start up of the engine, if the pressure within the common rail is higher than or equal to a predetermined level and at the same time if the temperature inside a cylinder of the engine is higher than or equal to a predetermined level, a start-up control system for the engine starts up the engine in such a manner, without driving the starter, that fuel is injected first into the cylinder of the engine, the engine being in a stopped state and the cylinder being located in the expansion stroke (S107).
