The purpose of the present invention is to provide a starting device for a gas internal combustion engine that further improves safety, damage prevention, durability and reliability by discharging unburned gas accumulated in the gas internal combustion engine and exhaust passage, thereby preventing abnormal combustion in the gas internal combustion engine during ignition start-up of the gas internal combustion engine. A starting device of a gas internal combustion engine (1) having an air starting device (30) is characterized by being provided with: a means for detecting the rotational speed of the gas internal combustion engine (1); a compressed air introduction means (5) that supplies compressed air to cylinders according to the ignition timing of the gas internal combustion engine (1); a compressed air supply means (3) that supplies compressed air to the compressed air introduction means (5); and a controller (2) that has a cumulative rotational speed setting device (21), which enables an operator to arbitrarily set a threshold value for a cumulative rotational speed, and, on the basis of the means for detecting the rotational speed, stops the compressed air supply means (3) from supplying compressed air when the set cumulative rotational speed has been reached.
