Abstract:
A receiver (20) receives wireless signals via a plurality of propagation paths (P1-P4) from a transmitter (10), measures the reception signal strengths of the wireless signals, obtains the standard deviation of the measured reception signal strengths, and compares the standard deviation with first and second threshold values, thereby determining which state the wireless signals indicate from among a first state where a person is not present in a space, a second state where the degree of activity of a person in a space is low, and a third state where the degree of activity of a person in a space is high.
