Abstract:
This state monitoring device (100) is mounted in a vehicle (1) and monitors the state of a driver using a facial image (51) of the driver. The state monitoring device emits illumination light from a projection unit (15) towards the face surface of the driver presumed to be positioned in a stipulated region (PA). The state monitoring device acquires a first face image (51) captured by receiving incoming light coming in from the stipulated region, and a second face image (52) captured by receiving attenuated light resulting from the light from the red region of the incoming light having been attenuated. Here, when a plurality of bright sections (55, 56) that are candidates for the eyes of the driver have been captured in the first face image, the bright sections not captured in the second face image among the plurality of bright sections are determined to be eyes, and on the basis of the locations of the determined eyes, face recognition is performed.
