Title:
STEAM STRIPPING OF CHLORINATED PHENOLS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2003/013749
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The invention provides a process for the removal of one or more chlorinated phenols, such as pentachlorophenol (PCP) or tetra chlorophenol (TCP), from a solid matrix, such as soil. The process includes contacting the solid matrix at a pH less than 5, preferably less than 2, with steam at a temperature of at least 100 °C to give a steam/chlorinated phenol mixture and then allowing the mixture to condense giving a distillate containing water and the one or more chlorinated phenols.
