Abstract:
Provided are a steel for blades with dramatically improved carbide density, and a method for producing same. A steel for blades having a metal composition comprising 0.55 mass% to 0.8 mass% C, not more than 1.0 mass% Si, not more than 1.0 mass% Mn, 12.0 mass% to 14.0 mass% Cr, with the remainder made up of Fe and unavoidable impurities, wherein the carbides in the ferrite structure of the steel for blades number more than 600 but not more than 1000 in an area of 100μｍ2.
