Abstract:

Provided are: a steel for high-strength bolts, which has excellent cold forgeability and excellent delayed fracture resistance, while maintaining the strength of a steel material; and a bolt which is obtained from the steel for bolts. A steel for high-strength bolts according to the present invention contains, in mass%, 0.20-0.40% of C, 1.5-2.5% of Si, 0.20-1.5% of Mn, more than 0% but 0.03% or less of P, more than 0% but 0.03% or less of S, 0.05-1.5% of Cr, 0.01-0.10% of Al, 0.0003-0.01% of B, and 0.002-0.020% of N, while containing 0.02-0.10% of Ti and/or 0.02-0.10% of Nb, with the balance made up of iron and unavoidable impurities.
