Abstract:
Provided is a steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article. The steel cord, when applied to a tire, can produce greater increases in cut resistance without using a greater amount of steel. The steel cord for reinforcing a rubber article comprises one core strand (11) that has a two-layered twisted structure that is formed by twisting together a plurality of steel filaments (1), and comprises a plurality of sheath strands (12) that have a layered twisted structure that is formed by twisting together a plurality of steel filaments (2), the sheath strands being twisted together around the core strand. The ratio (dc/ds) of the diameter (dc) of sheath filaments that constitute a sheath of the core strand to the diameter (ds) of the outermost layer sheath filaments that constitute the outermost layer sheath of the sheath strands is greater than 1.25 and equal to or less than 1.50.
