Abstract:
This invention relates to a steel cord for tire stably tight in twist, susceptible to impregnation of rubber thereinto, and less in elongation under light loading, and to a method of manufacturing such cords as above, which cord is characterized by being composed of three or more strands and one or more of them are provided with shaped parts in an approximate zigzag form along the longitudinal direction thereof; and the method of manufacturing the steel cord as above is characterized in that one or more than two stands are passed between a pair of toothed meshing surfaces of toothed-wheel-like shaping elements so as to be shaped zigzag and then the strands are twisted together while passed through twisting machine, whereby the cord is buried into the belt part of various kinds of tires for the final use.
