Abstract:
Provided are a steel material and a method for producing the same, and a tank and a method for producing the same. A steel material according to the present invention contains, in terms of mass%, 0.200%-0.700% C, 0.05%-1.00% Si, 20.0%-40.0% Mn, 0.030% or less P, 0.0050% or less S, 5.00% or less Al, 7.0% or less Cr, 0.0500% or less N, 0.0050% or less O, less than 0.005% Ti, and less than 0.005% Nb, and contains at least one selected from 0.0100% or less Ca, 0.0100% or less Mg, and 0.0200% or less REM, with the remainder having a component composition comprising iron and unavoidable impurities. The microstructure of the steel material is such that the maximum crystal grain size at a position 1 mm below the surface of the steel material is less than 200 μm.
