Abstract:

This steel material comprises, in terms of % by mass, 0.05-0.55% C, 0.05-1.00% Si, 1.51-3.50% Mn, 0.1000% or less of P, 0.3000% or less of S, 0.05-2.50% Cr, 0.10-0.75% V, 0.005-0.250% Ti, 0.003-0.100% Al, and 0.020% or less of N, the remainder being Fe and impurities, and has a chemical composition that satisfies formula (1) when the C content is 0.05% to less than 0.38% and that satisfies formula (2) when the C content is 0.38% to less than 0.55%, the number density of coarse Al2O3-based inclusions in the steel material being 0.05-1.00/mm2. (1): 0.38 ≤ C + 0.11Mn + 0.08Cr + 0.75V + 0.20Mo ≤ 1.50. (2): 0.73 ≤ C + 0.11Mn + 0.08Cr + 0.75V + 0.20Mo ≤ 1.65.
