Abstract:

This steel sheet for a container is provided with a steel sheet, an Ni plating layer formed on at least one surface of the steel sheet, and a chemically converted coating layer formed on the Ni plating layer, wherein the Ni plating layer contains 10-1000 mg/m2 of Ni in terms of the metallic Ni amount, and the chemically converted coating layer contains 5-30 mg/m2 of a Zr compound in terms of the metallic Zr amount. The average roughness Ra of the outermost surface of the chemically converted coating layer as determined by a scanning probe microscope is 10-100 nm, and when the amount of change in the yellowness index measured for one measurement point in the outermost surface of the chemically converted coating layer is defined as ΔYI as represented in formula (2), the average value for the ΔYI absolute values obtained for a plurality of said measurement points included in a unit area of the outermost layer is 5.0 or less.
