Abstract:
This steel wire material has a chemical component within a prescribed range and has a structure in the center section thereof that includes 80–100 area% pearlite and a total of at least 0 area% and less than 20 area% of proeutectoid ferrite, proeutectoid cementite, martensite, and bainite. The average lamellar spacing between the pearlite in the center section is 50–100 nm. The average length of lamellar cementite in the center section is no more than 1.9 µm. The average pearlite block size in the center section is 15.0–30.0 µm. The structure in a surface layer section includes 70–100 area% of pearlite. The average pearlite block size in the surface layer section is 0.40–0.87 times the size of the average pearlite block size in the center section.
