The steering angle detection device (10) is provided with multiple control units (150, 250) and multiple steering angle sensors (120, 220). The control units (150, 250) are capable of transmitting steering angle information pertaining to a steering angle of a vehicle to an external device (310) and exchanging information therewith. The rotation angle sensors (120, 220) are disposed so as to correspond to each of the control units (150, 250), detect changes in steering angle, and output sensor signals that accord with the detected values to the corresponding control units (150, 250). The steering angle information is transmitted to the external device (310) from a designated-for-transmitting control unit, which is one of the multiple control units (150, 250), during a single transmission timing.
