Abstract:
A steering apparatus provided with: a pair of rack bars (53, 54) connected to tie rods (12, 22) of left and right wheels (w), respectively; a synchronous gear device (57) for converting movement of one rack bar (53) in the left/right direction to movement of the other rack bar (54) in the other left/right direction; a rack bar operating means (60) capable of moving the pair of rack bars (53, 54) in mutually opposite directions; a synchronous gear box (66) capable of retaining the synchronous gear device (57) and moving in the left/right direction; a rack case (50) for retaining the pair of rack bars (53, 54), the rack case (50) being fixed to a frame side of a vehicle (1); and a pair of fixing mechanisms (80) retained by the rack case (50) and arranged at both ends of the synchronous gear box (66).
