The purpose of the present invention is to provide a steering apparatus with which it is possible to improve the function of a bearing for supporting a steering shaft. The steering apparatus is provided with a steering shaft, a first housing member, a second housing member, and a bearing. The steering shaft rotates with the rotation of a steering wheel. The first housing member is located to one side in the direction of the rotation axis of the steering shaft, and has a cylindrical part and a flange part. The cylindrical part surrounds the steering shaft. The flange part extends towards the outer side in the radial direction of the cylindrical part, in the radial direction with respect to the rotation axis of the steering shaft. The second housing member is located at the other side in the direction of the rotation axis, and together with the first housing member, constitutes a housing. The second housing member has a connection part and a containing part. The connection part connects with the flange part of the first housing member. The containing part contains a part of the steering shaft. The bearing supports the steering shaft, and is located at a position that is on the internal peripheral side of the cylindrical part of the first housing member and that overlaps with the flange part in the direction of the rotation axis.
