Abstract:

A steering assist device, comprising a camera photographing the rearward of a vehicle, a monitor disposed at an operator seat of a vehicle, a steered angle sensor detecting the steered angle of a steering wheel, and display control means which displays an image photographed by the camera on the monitor when the vehicle moves backward and superimposedly displays a guide display for assisting the operation of the vehicle for parking, the guide display including a steering start guideline fixedly displayed at a specified position on a monitor screen and guiding a steering start point for parking and a steered amount guide mark movably displayed according to the steering start guideline on the monitor screen in response to the steered angle of the steering wheel detected by a steered angle sensor, wherein the operator steers the vehicle while understanding the steering start point for parking, steered amount, and the quick turn point of the steering wheel based on the steering start guideline, steered amount guide mark, and the image of the rearward of the vehicle.
