Abstract:
This steering column device has a slip plate (9) which is provided with a protrusion (94) protruding toward a lock member (8). The lock member (8) is formed with ratchet grooves (84), which are engaged with the protrusion (94) so as to allow the lock member (8) to rotate in the tightening direction and prevent the lock member (8) from rotating in the tightening release direction. The slip plate (9) is adjusted to a desired release load in advance, and fixed to a flange (21) by the lock member (8) screw-threaded on a sleeve (7). When fastening the flange (21) to a vehicle body (3), the sleeve (7) is fastened to the vehicle body (3) by a fixing bolt (10). Without change in the tightening torque of the fixing bolt (10), it is possible to adjust the release load when an upper-side vehicle body mounting bracket (2) is released from the vehicle body (3).
