Abstract:

This steering damper (23) can adjust the damping force of a rotor part (35) covered with a lower casing part (33) and an upper casing part (39) by changing the viscosity of a magnetic fluid by means of an electromagnet (37). It is possible to collect bubbles that are lighter than the magnetic fluid by means of a volume compensation part (43) even when air entrainment occurs or the volume of the magnetic fluid expands because the volume compensation part (43) is disposed in a magnetic fluid chamber (41). Therefore, it is possible to prevent the properties of the steering damper (23) from changing due to air entrainment or the expansion of the volume of the magnetic fluid.
