Abstract:
A steering device is provided with: an upper column tube that rotatably supports a steering shaft; a lower column tube that is fixed to a vehicle body and that is movable relative to the upper column tube; a bracket that is connected to the upper column tube and that comprises a notch on the steering wheel side; and a capsule that is fixed to the vehicle body and that engages with the notch. A shock absorption mechanism comprises: a bracket fixing section that is fitted into the bracket and fixed thereto in an integrated manner; a capsule fixing section that is fitted into the capsule and fixed thereto in an integrated manner; and a break section that connects the bracket fixing section and the capsule fixing section and that breaks as a result of movement of the bracket and the capsule relative to one another.
