Abstract:

Provided is a steering device configured so that play and rattling noise caused by the play, which occur during the adjustment of position of the steering wheel, can be simply and sufficiently reduced without affecting the operability of a pivoting lever. A steering device (1) is configured so that the tilted position and the telescopic position of the steering wheel (H) can be adjusted by moving a column (20) relative to the vehicle body, the column (20) holding the shaft of the steering wheel (H). The steering device (1) has: a pivoting lever (123) for affixing the column (20) relative to the vehicle body and releasing the column (20) from the affixation; a movable cam (121) and a stationary cam (120), which convert the pivoting movement of the pivoting lever (123) into the movement in the direction of the axis of the pivoting movement to thereby affix the column (20) and release the column (20) from the affixation; a sleeve (122) for holding the movable cam (121) and sliding on the movable cam (121) during the pivoting of the pivoting lever (123); and a ring spring (125) for pressing the sleeve (122) against the sliding surface of the movable cam (121).
