Abstract:
In an area on both sides, in the width direction, of the front end portion of an outer column (11a), in a state surrounded by slits in three directions, a pair of clamp units (38) is provided which, upon reduction of the interval between the inside surfaces of a pair of support plate units configuring an upper bracket, flexes to elastically hold the outer peripheral surface of the inner column (10a). On both sides, in the width direction, of the outer column (11a), a first and second surface (49a, 49b) are provided to hold the pair of clamp units (38, 38) from both sides, are spaced apart in the vertical direction and transmit the torque acting on the outer column (11a) to the inside surface of the support plate units.
