Abstract:
Reinforcement ribs (33a, 33b) are provided between mounting plate sections (30a, 31b) and support plate sections (31a, 31b), the mounting plate sections (30a, 31b) and the support plate sections (31a, 31b) constituting a support bracket (18a). Also, side plate sections (40a, 40b) which constitute a distance bracket (17a) are disposed between an outer column (13a) and the support plate sections (31a, 31b). When an adjustment lever (26a) is operated in order to retain a steering wheel at an adjusted position, column pressing sections (42a, 42b) provided to the side plate sections (40a, 40b) push a steering column (6a) upward to press a pair of widening sections (43a, 43b) apart outward in the width direction, the pair of widening sections (43a, 43b) being provided on the upper parts of the side plate sections (40a, 40b). Thus, the widening sections (43a, 43b) are gripped between the support plate sections (31a, 31b) and the outer column (13a).
