Abstract:
This rack and pinion style steering device comprises: a housing that accommodates a rack shaft and a pinion shaft, and maintains the meshing of rack teeth and pinion teeth; and cylindrical rack bushings that are provided to both lengthwise direction end sections of the housing, and support the rack shaft. The housing has a circumferential groove formed in inner circumferences that face the rack bushings. The rack bushings each have an axial direction slit that extends from one end section in an axial direction to the other end section, and a protrusion that protrudes radially outward from a bushing outer circumference surface. The protrusion is inserted into the circumferential groove in a manner in which a slanted surface, the radially outward protruding height of which gradually decreases in the axial direction, is made to contact a groove opening edge of the circumferential groove, and is elastically biased radially outward.
