Abstract:
In the present invention, an outer column 9a is provided with: first fastening surfaces 22a arranged on a pair of clamp parts 20a; second fastening surfaces 28a arranged below the first fastening surfaces 22a on portions having high widthwise stiffness; and third fastening surfaces 30a arranged above the first fastening surfaces 22a on portions having high widthwise stiffness. A pair of support plate parts 21b of an upper bracket 5b are provided with: reinforcing parts 36a, 37a which are arranged on both end sections in the front-rear direction, extend in the vertical direction, and have free ends on the upper end sections thereof; and a stepped part 53 which is arranged on a middle section in the front-rear direction and has a recessed shape on the widthwise outer side, a protruding shape on the widthwise inner side, and a widthwise inner surface that faces the third fastening surfaces 30a and that can abut only the third fastening surface 30a.
