Abstract:
A steering lock device prevents damage such as a crack from occurring in a steering column (2e) when an attempt is made to rotate a steering wheel with large force while an ignition key is turned off. Circumferential protrusions (24) are provided at portions of the peripheral edge of a through-hole (16d) for locking, the portions being separated from each other in the axial direction and being located on both sides of the peripheral edge in the circumferential direction which is the rotational direction of a steering shaft. When large force which attempts to rotate the steering wheel is applied to the peripheral edge of the through-hole (16d) for locking, the force plastically deforms the circumferential protrusions (24), and as a result, the force is absorbed.
