Abstract:
Disclosed is a steering support device that is capable of adequately reducing the steering load on a driver. The steering support device supports the steering operations of a driver driving a vehicle, wherein the steering support device is equipped with an auxiliary torque generation means that causes the steering device of a vehicle to generate auxiliary torque for assisting the steering force of the driver, a first torque control means that controls the auxiliary torque in a manner such that the vehicle makes turns based on the curvature of the driving lane, a second torque control means that controls the auxiliary torque in a manner such that the driving position of the vehicle is brought close to the center line of the driving lane, a lane change assessment means that assesses whether or not the vehicle is changing lanes, and a control suppression means that suppresses control of the auxiliary torque by the second torque control means in cases in which it has been assessed that the vehicle is changing lanes.
