Provided is a steering system having a simple structure, such that it is possible to improve the stability and safety of vehicle travel without feeling unnatural to a driver. Also provided is a vehicle equipped with the steering system. This steering system (101) is for a vehicle which comprises a steering device (150) that steers left and right wheels individually by driving steering actuators disposed within tire housings. The steering device (150) is equipped with a control unit (150b) that individually controls the steering actuators of the left and right wheels (9), (9). The control unit (150b) has: a toe angle control means (38) for controlling the left and right steering actuators so that the left and right wheels are turned to a toe-in position or toe-out position symmetrically; and a friction-coefficient estimation means (39) for individually estimating the coefficients of friction of the left and right wheels and the road surface according to a preset rule when controlling the left and right steering actuators with the toe angle control means (38).
