Abstract:

[Problem] To provide a steering wheel device which is configured so that an impact applied during an emergency or the like can be absorbed by a reduced movement. [Solution] A steering wheel device (100) has a lower cover (108) which covers the side of a steering wheel (101) which faces a steering column (102). The steering wheel device (100) is characterized in that the lower cover (108) has: a bottom surface (110) which faces the steering column (102); an opening (112) which is provided at the center of the bottom surface (110) and through which the steering shaft (104) is inserted; slits (114a) which are provided on both sides of the opening (112) in the bottom surface (110) and which are bent or curved in a predetermined shape; cushioning sections (116a) which are formed on the bottom surface (110) so as to be rimmed by the slits (114a) to have free ends (118) which face the front of the vehicle and to have affixation ends (120) which face the rear of the vehicle; and breakable bridges (122a) which, on the free end (118) side of the cushioning sections (116a), are extended across the slits (114a).
