Abstract:
Small-sized sprockets having a function to adjust engagement with a chain is installed on a slide device through a one-way clutch or a ratchet wheel so as to be rotatable in the same direction. The device can randomly and coaxially move a thing installed on it, and the whole slide device is rotatable as one deformable polygonal sprocket. An input shaft and output shaft of a speed change apparatus are provided with the polygonal sprockets such that the rotatable directions of the small-sized sprockets installed on each of the polygonal sprockets are opposite to each other, and the polygonal sprockets are interlocked by a chain ring. When the shapes of the individual polygonal sprockets installed on the input shaft and output shaft of the speed change device are continuously and correlatively enlarged and reduced with a similar shapes, apparent pitch circle circumferential lengths of individual polygonal sprockets are continuously varied, and a ratio of the apparent pitch circle circumferential lengths is a speed change ratio of a stepless speed change apparatus.
