Abstract:
In this stepped power transmission device for an electric vehicle, a first planetary gear 2 has a first sun gear 2S, a first ring gear 2R, and a first carrier 2C supporting a first single pinion gear 2P that meshes with the first sun gear 2S and the first ring gear 2R, and a second planetary gear 3 has a second sun gear 3S, a second ring gear 3R, and a second carrier 3C supporting a second single pinion gear 3P that meshes with the second sun gear 3S and the second ring gear 3R. An input shaft linked to an electric motor is constantly linked to the first sun gear 2S, an output shaft linked to a differential mechanism is constantly linked to the first carrier 2C and the second ring gear 3R, and the first ring gear 2R and the second sun gear 3S are constantly linked, constituting a first rotating member. A first brake L/B is capable of locking the rotation of the second carrier 3C, a second brake H/B is capable of locking the rotation of the first rotating member, and a two-speed transmission ratio can be achieved by selectively engaging and disengaging the first and second brakes.
