Abstract:
In order to provide a stereo camera device whereby rapid and accurate detection of a solid object even in a scene wherein the solid object may suddenly enter within a field of view is possible, a stereo camera device (100) comprises: solid object detection means (105, 106, 107); an obstructed object detection means (108) for detecting an obstructed object having a known shape; and obstructed object obstruction detection means (109, 110) for, when the obstructed object is detected by the obstructed object detection means (108), detecting whether the solid object which is obtained by the solid object detection means obstructs the obstructed object. If it is detected that the obstructed object is obstructed by the solid object, the obstructed object obstruction detection means (109, 110) carry out the detection of the solid object which obstructs the obstructed object by a more simplified process for verifying the presence of the solid object than if it is detected by the obstructed object obstruction detection means (109, 110) that the obstructed object is not obstructed by the solid object.
