Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a storage box for a two-wheeled vehicle. The storage comprising a mounting means for attaching said storage box(3) on the seat pipe(15); a first half (4) and a second half (5) defining said storage box (3), said first half (4) and said second half (5) configured to be received and mounted to said mounting means (8); and a door panel (6) configured with a locking means (7), said door panel (6) configured to be received in said first half (4) and said second half (5) to form the desired storage box (3). Advantageously, the storage box (3) is a compact box; therefore it provides enough storage space for storing the first aid kit. Also, since the storage box is provided with the locking means, therefore it allows the rider to securely store valuables or essentials therein.

Claims:
CLAIMS:

1. A storage box (3) for a two-wheeled vehicle, said storage box (3) defined by a hollow body, sidewalls, a bottom wall and a door panel, said storage box is being mounted on a seat pipe (15) of the vehicle, said storage box (3) further comprising:

• mounting means for attaching said storage box (3) to the seat pipe (15);

• said body being divided in to two halves (4, 5), each half comprising one side wall, half of bottom wall, half of top wall and half of rear wall where two halves are secured to each other to define an open body; and

• said door panel (6) secured to the joined roof segment in an operative configuration of said body to form a closed storage box (3).

2. The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the seat pipe (15) is configured with a first U-shaped bracket (8) having a pair of first holes (8a) therein, each of said first hole (8a) configured with a first nut (16) weldably attached therein.

3. The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said mounting means is a second U- shaped bracket (9) configured with four arms (17) at each of the operative corners of said second bracket (9).

The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said second U-shaped bracket (9) having a pair of second holes (9b), each of said second hole (9b) configured to align with said first hole (8a) and removably mounted therein by means of a first set of bolts (16a). 5. The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 3, wherein said first half (4) and said second half

(5) of the storage box are configured to be received and mounted to said arms (17).

The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 5, wherein said first half (4) configured with a plurality of stud (12), said second half (5) configured with a plurality of depression, the stud (12) configured to be received in the depression. 7. The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 3, wherein each of said arms (17) configured with a third hole (17a), each of said third hole (17a) configured with a second nut (11) weldably attached therein. 8. The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the rear wall of the two halves (4, 5) configured with a hollow bracket (18) with a pair of fourth holes (18a) therein.

The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 8, wherein said hollow bracket (18) configured to be received by said arms (17), each of said third holes (17a) of said arms (17) are configured to align with each of said fourth holes (18a) of said hollow bracket and mounted therein by means of a second set of bolts (10).

The storage box (3) as claimed in claim 1, wherein said door panel (6) is configured with a pivot pin (6a) and a locking means (7) , said pivot pin (6a) configured to be hingedly mounted to said joined roof of said two halves (4, 5). 11. A two wheeled vehicle having a storage box (3) as claimed in any one of the preceding claims 1-10.

12. A method of assembling a storage box (3) of a two wheeled vehicle, said storage box (3) defined by a hollow body, sidewalls, a bottom wall and a door panel, said storage box is mounting on a seat pipe (15) of the vehicle, the method comprises the following step:

• providing a mounting means;

• attaching said mounting means to the seat pipe (15) of the vehicle;

• providing two halves of said body, each half comprising one side wall, half of bottom wall, half of top wall and half of rear wall where two halves are secured to each other to define an open body;

• fixing said first half (4) to said mounting means;

• receiving said second half (5) to said mounting means;

• snap fitting said second half (5) to said first half (4) of the storage box;

• providing said door panel (6);

• inserting said door panel (6) on to the joined roof of said two halves; and

• fixing said second half (4) to said mounting means for obtaining said storage box

(3).

13. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein the seat pipe (15) is provided with a first U- shaped bracket (8), said mounting means is a second U-shaped bracket (9), mounting said second U-shaped bracket (9) on said first U-shaped bracket (8) by using a first set of bolts (16a).

14. The method as claimed in claim 13, wherein said second U-shaped bracket (9) configured with four arms (17) at each of the operative corners of said second bracket (9), 15. The method as claimed in claim 13, wherein receiving said first half (4) and said second half (5) in said arms (17) and mounting therein by using a second set of bolts (10).

16. The method as claimed in claim 12, wherein hingedly securing a pivot pin (6a) of said door panel (6) to a pair of hole (19) provided on the top of said first half (4) and said second half (5).

Description:
A STORAGE BOX FOR TWO-WHEELED VEHICLE AND METHOD OF ASSEMBLING THEREOF

FIELD

The present disclosure relates to the field of storage compartments for a two- wheeled vehicles and more particularly, relates to a storage box for a two-wheeled pedal assisted legal vehicles and electric bikes.

BACKGROUND The background information herein below relates to the present disclosure but is not necessarily prior art.

Typically, in bikes there are various components such as seat, seat pipe, bottle cage mount, and the like which are essential for a rider. However, these bikes do not have a compartment that can store a tool kit, a first aid kit, or valuables or any other essentials of the rider. At times, the rider has to carry these things in his bag or pocket while commuting and hence is inconvenienced.

Therefore, there is felt a need of an under-seat storage box that alleviates the aforementioned drawbacks.

OBJECTS Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfies, are as follows:

It is an object of the present disclosure to ameliorate one or more problems of the prior art or to at least provide a useful alternative.

An object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box for a two- wheeled vehicle. Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that allows a rider to securely store valuables or essentials therein.

Still another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that is compact. Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that is cost effective in terms of manufacturing.

Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that provides storage space for USB charging and mobile phone with lock facility. Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that is detachably mounted on the frame assembly of a bike and can be easily removed when required.

Still yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that is waterproof.

Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that is easy to assemble.

Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that is robust in configuration.

Still yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that facilitates the storage space for first aid kit.

Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a storage box that facilitates the storage space for tool kit. Other objects and advantages of the present disclosure will be more apparent from the following description when read in conjunction with the accompanying figures, which are not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.

SUMMARY

The present disclosure envisages a storage box for a two-wheeled vehicle. The storage box is defined by a hollow body, sidewalls, a bottom wall and a door panel mounted on a seat pipe of the vehicle. The storage box comprises a mounting means for attaching the storage box on the seat pipe. The body of the storage box is being divided in to two halves, and each half comprising one side wall, half of bottom wall, half of top wall and half of rear wall. The two halves of the storage box are secured to each other to define an open body. The door panel is secured to the joined roof segment in an operative configuration of the body to form a closed storage box. The seat pipe is configured with a first U-shaped bracket having a pair of first hole configured therein. In an embodiment, each of the first holes is configured with a first nut weldably attached therein.

Further, the mounting means is a second U-shaped bracket. The second bracket is configured with four arms at each of the operative corners of the second bracket. The second bracket has a pair of second holes. In an embodiment, each of the second holes is configured to align with the first hole and removably mounted therein by means of a first set of bolts.

Each of the arms is configured with a third hole. Each of the third holes is configured with a second nut weldably attached therein. The first half and the second half of the storage box are configured to be received and mounted to the arms. The rear wall of each of the halves is configured with a hollow bracket therein. The hollow bracket is configured with a pair of fourth holes. In an embodiment, the hollow bracket of each of the halves is configured to be received by the arms.

In an embodiment, each of the third holes of the arms are configured to align with each of the fourth holes of the hollow bracket and mounted therein by means of a second set of bolts.

Further, the first half of the storage box is configured with a plurality of stud located along the circumference of the first half. And, the second half of the storage box is configured with a plurality of depressions.

In an embodiment, the studs of the first half are configured to be received in the depression of the second half.

Further, the door panel is configured to be received in the first half and the second half to form the desired storage box. In an embodiment, the top portion of the door panel is configured with a pivot pin which is configured to be hingedly mounted to the joined roof formed by the first half and the second half of the storage box. Advantageously, the storage box is a compact box; therefore it provides enough storage space for storing the first aid kit. Also, since the storage box is provided with the locking means, therefore it allows the rider to securely store valuables or essentials therein.

Further, the present disclosure also discloses a method of assembling the storage box of the two-wheeled vehicle. The storage box is defined by the hollow body, sidewalls, a bottom wall and a door panel, and mounted to the seat pipe of the vehicle. The method comprises the following step:

• providing the mounting means;

• attaching the mounting means to the seat pipe of the vehicle;

• providing the two halves of the body each half comprising one side wall, half of bottom wall, half of top wall and half of rear wall where two halves are secured to each other to define the open body;

• fixing the first half of the storage box to the mounting means;

• receiving the second half of the storage box to the mounting means;

• snap fitting the second half to the first half of the storage box;

• providing the door panel;

• inserting the door panel on to the joined roof of the two halves; and

• fixing the second half to the mounting means for obtaining said storage box.

The seat pipe is provided with the first U-shaped bracket, and the mounting means is the second U-shaped bracket. The second U-shaped bracket is provided with the four arms at each of the operative corners of the second bracket.

In one embodiment, the second U-shaped bracket is fixed with the first U-shaped bracket by using the first bolts.

In another embodiment, the first half and the second half of the storage box are received in the arms and attached by using the second set of bolts.

In an embodiment, the pivot pins of the door panel are hingedly secured to the pair of holes provided on the joined roof formed by the first half and the second half of the storage box.

Advantageously, the storage box is removably attached, therefore it allows the rider, convenient to use. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACCOMPANYING DRAWING

A storage box for two-wheeled vehicle and method of assembling thereof, of the present will now be described with the help of the accompanying drawing, in which: Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the storage box mounted on a seat pipe of a two wheeled vehicle, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure;

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Embodiments, of the present disclosure, will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing. Embodiments are provided so as to thoroughly and fully convey the scope of the present disclosure to the person skilled in the art. Numerous details are set forth, relating to specific components, and methods, to provide a complete understanding of embodiments of the present disclosure. It will be apparent to the person skilled in the art that the details provided in the embodiments should not be construed to limit the scope of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, well-known processes, well-known apparatus structures, and well-known techniques are not described in detail.

The terminology used, in the present disclosure, is only for the purpose of explaining a particular embodiment and such terminology shall not be considered to limit the scope of the present disclosure. As used in the present disclosure, the forms “a”, “an”, and “the” may be intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly suggests otherwise. Typically, in bikes there are various components such as seat, seat pipe, bottle cage mount, and the like which are essential for a rider. However, RTO registered pedal assisted bikes do not have a compartment that can store a tool kit, a first aid kit, or valuables or any other essentials of the rider. At times, the rider has to carry these things in his bag or pocket while commuting and hence is inconvenienced.

The present disclosure envisages a storage box assembly for a two wheeled vehicles specifically E-bike or pedal assisted legal e-bikes. The storage box 3 (herein after referred to as “box 3”) is now described with reference to Figure 1 through Figure 17.

An embodiment of the present invention will now be described with reference to Figure 1 through Figure 10. The Figure 1 illustrates a front view of the storage box 3 mounted on a seat pipe of a two wheeled vehicle, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The seat pipe 15 is a part of the vehicle frame assembly 1. The storage box 3 of the present disclosure is defined by a hollow body, sidewalls, and a bottom wall and a door panel 6 mounted on a seat pipe 15 of the vehicle. The storage box 3 is mounted on the frame assembly 1 below the seat assembly 2 on to the seat pipe 15. The storage box 3 comprises a mounting means for attaching the storage box 3 on the seat pipe 15, the door panel 6 configured with the locking means 7, the first half 4 and the second half 5 defining the storage box assembly 3. The Figure 2 illustrates a rear view of the storage box of Figure 1 a depicting the locking means 7 configured on the door panel 6 of the storage box 3. The Figure 3 illustrates the second half view of the storage box of Figure 1. The Figure 4 illustrates the first half view of the storage box of Figure 1. The Figure 5 illustrates a bottom isometric view of the storage box. The Figure 6 illustrates a bottom view of the storage box of Figure 1. The Figure 7 illustrates an isometric view of the storage box of Figure 1.

The seat pipe 15 is configured with a first U-shaped bracket 8 having a pair of first holes 8a therein. Each of the first holes 8a is configured with a first nut 16 weldably attached therein. Further, the mounting means is a second U-shaped bracket 9. The second bracket 9 is configured with four arms 17 at each of the operative corners of the second bracket 9. The second bracket 9 has a pair of second holes 9a. The first U-shaped bracket 8 and the second U-shaped bracket 9 are configured to be mounted on the frame assembly 1 of the vehicle.

In an embodiment, the second hole 9a is configured to align with the first hole 8a and removably mounted therein by means of a first set of bolts 16a.

Each of the arms 17 of the second bracket 9 is configured with a third hole 17a. Each of the third holes 17 is configured with a second nut 11 weldably attached therein. The first half and the second half of the storage box are configured to be received and mounted to the mounting means. The rear wall of each of the halves of the storage box 4, 5 is configured with a hollow bracket 18 therein. The hollow bracket 18 is configured with a pair of fourth holes 18a. The hollow bracket 18 of each of the halves 4, 5 is configured to be received by the arms 17 of the second bracket 9.

In an embodiment, each of the third holes 17a of the arms 17 are configured to align with each of the fourth holes 18a and mounted therein by means of a second set of bolts 10. Further, the first half 4 of the storage box is configured with a plurality of stud 12 located along the circumference. And, the second half 5 of the storage box is configured with a plurality of depressions. The door panel 6 is attached or fitted on the storage box 3 with a pivot pin 6a. The pluralities of studs 12 are configured on the circumference of the first half 4 and are inserted into the various depressions provided on the circumference of the second half 5 of the storage box.

In an embodiment, the studs 12 of the first half are snap fitted to the depression of the second half 5 of the storage box.

In another embodiment, the first half 4 and the second half 5 of the storage box configured to be symmetric about an axis. The door panel 6 is configured to be received in the first half and the second half of the storage box to form the desired storage box 3. The top portion of the door panel 6 is configured with the pivot pin 6a which is configured to be received in the hole provided at the top portion of the first half and the second half of the storage box. The pivot pin 6a once inserted in to the holes allows the door panel 6 to pivot with respect to the storage box first half 4 and the second half 5. The storage box first half 4 and the storage box second half 5 are simultaneously snap fitted with the help of the snap 13 of the storage box first half 4 which is fitted with the snap lock 14 of the storage box second half 5 to form a complete storage box assembly 3.

In an embodiment, the box 3 can store a tool kit, a first aid kit, or valuables or any other essentials of the rider.

In another embodiment, the box 3 can also be used to provide charging space for a mobile phone while riding the bike.

In still another embodiment, the box 3 can be used to store a USB charger.

In an embodiment, the box 3 can be mounted on a pedal assisted on-road legal electric two wheeled vehicle.

The Figure 8A illustrates an isometric view of the first half of the storage box Figure 1 along with storage box mounting brackets, nuts, stud, snap, and snap lock. The Figure 8B illustrates an isometric view of the second half housing of the storage box Figure 1. The Figure 9 illustrates an isometric view of the door panel with the locking means configured thereon, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The Figure 10 illustrates a front isometric view of the complete storage box, in accordance with an embodiment of the present disclosure. The Figure 11 illustrates a front isometric view of the storage box of Figure 1 with door panel open. The Figure 12 illustrates an isometric view of a plurality of storage box mount brackets mounted on the seat pipe of a two wheeled vehicle. The present disclosure also envisages a method of assembling the box 3 of the two-wheeled vehicle. The storage box is mounted to the seat pipe. The method comprises the following step:

• providing the mounting means;

• attaching the mounting means to the seat pipe 15 of the vehicle;

• providing the first half 4 and the second half 5 of the storage box, the first half and the second half constitute the storage box;

• fixing the first half of the storage box 4 to the mounting means;

• receiving the second half of the storage box 5 to the mounting means;

• snap fitting the second half 5 to the first half 4 of the storage box;

• providing the door panel 6;

• inserting the door panel 6 on to the top portion of the first half and the second half of the storage box; and

• fixing the second half of the storage box to the mounting means for obtaining said storage box 3.

Further, the seat pipe 15 is provided with the first U-shaped bracket 8, and the mounting means is the second U-shaped bracket 9. The second U-shaped bracket 9 is provided with the four arms 17 at each of the operative corners of the second bracket 9. Fixing the first half 4 of the storage box on the seat pipe 15 by using the second U-shaped bracket 9 with screws 10 and nuts 11, fixing the door panel 6; inserting the stud 12 provided on the top portion of the first half 4 of the storage box into the depressions configured on the second half 5, inserting the door panel 6 with pivot pin 6a into the holes configured on the top portion of the storage box first half 4 and the storage box second half 5, thereby allowing the door panel 6 to pivot and hingedly mounted with respect to the first half 4 and the second half 5 of the storage box. The snap 13 is fitted at the bottom portion of the storage box first half 4 with the snap lock 14 configured at the bottom portion of the storage box second half 5 to form the complete box 3.

In one embodiment, attaching the second U-shaped bracket 9 with the first U-shaped bracket 8 by using the first set of bolts 16a. In another embodiment, receiving the first half 4 and the second half 5 of the storage box in the arms 17 of the second bracket and mounting them by using the second set of bolts 10.

Thus, the box 3 facilitates a safe place to store the essentials of the rider as there is locking facility. The box 3 has compact design and requires less space. The box 3 is waterproof. The box 3 is cost effective in terms of manufacturing. The box 3 requires very less time for assembling. Further, the box 3 can be detachably mounted on the frame assembly 1 of the bike, thereby allowing a rider to remove the box 3 as per requirement. Also, the box 3 provides storage and charging space for mobile phones during riding.

The foregoing description of the embodiments has been provided for purposes of illustration and not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure. Individual components of a particular embodiment are generally not limited to that particular embodiment, but, are interchangeable. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the present disclosure, and all such modifications are considered to be within the scope of the present disclosure. TECHNICAL ADVANCEMENTS

The present disclosure described herein above has several technical advantages including, but not limited to, the realization of the storage box for two-wheeled vehicle and method of assembling thereof, that:

• provides a safe storage space to store essentials as the storage box is provided with a lock therein;

• has compact and robust configuration;

• provides waterproof storage space;

• provides completely removable attachment of the storage box;

• provides less number of components, therefore cost effective in terms of manufacturing;

• facilitates easy assembling of storage box in less time; and

• provides storage for the first aid kit and the basic tool kit.

The embodiments herein and the various features and advantageous details thereof are explained with reference to the non-limiting embodiments in the following description. Descriptions of well-known components and processing techniques are omitted so as to not unnecessarily obscure the embodiments herein. The foregoing description of the specific embodiments so fully reveal the general nature of the embodiments herein that others can, by applying current knowledge, readily modify and/or adapt for various applications such specific embodiments without departing from the generic concept, and, therefore, such adaptations and modifications should and are intended to be comprehended within the meaning and range of equivalents of the disclosed embodiments. It is to be understood that the phraseology or terminology employed herein is for the purpose of description and not of limitation. Therefore, while the embodiments herein have been described in terms of preferred embodiments, those skilled in the art will recognize that the embodiments herein can be practiced with modification within the spirit and scope of the embodiments as described herein.
